    Description

The Hinge-2 (No. 3013-D) is a tough, reusable roof anchor built for fast setup on wood-framed structures. Its hinged legs conform from flat deck to steep pitches, while a forged D-ring provides a dependable tie-off for a single user. Rated to 5,000 lb and compliant with OSHA/ANSI, it installs with SAS-specified nails or screws and can be used at the ridge or in the field—even vertically on a wall with the proper screws.

    Features

    • Reusable, 1-person anchor for fall arrest or restraint; max user 310 lb (including tools). 5,000 lb minimum tensile.
    • Wide pitch range: up to 24/12 with WS 3" wood screws; up to 12/12 with 16d nails or #12 screws; also lays flat on deck.
    • Flexible placement: mount at ridge or field on roof or floor deck; vertical walls require WS screws (no nails).
    • Durable construction: 11-ga steel with Dacromet® coating and a forged D-ring (stainless 3013-S variant also available)
    • System-ready: approved to anchor an SRL when installed with WS screws; HLL use requires engineered design and is not allowed when nailed.
    • Clear service zones: Fall arrest within ±30° of vertical; fall restraint 360° when no free-fall hazard.
    • Fastener guidance: use only SAS-specified fasteners; typical patterns are 12× 16d duplex nails (6/leg) or 10× WS 3" screws (5/leg).
    • Compliance: ANSI Z359.18-17 Type A; OSHA 1926.502.

    FAQs

    • Q: Where can I mount the Hinge-2, and are vertical wall installs allowed?
A: Mount on wood framing at the ridge or in the field on roof/floor decks. Vertical wall installs are allowed only when using the specified WS wood screws (never nails). Keep the tie-off in line with the expected load path and place the anchor as high as practical to reduce swing risk.
    • Q: Can I use a self-retracting lifeline (SRL) or a horizontal lifeline (HLL) with this anchor?
A: SRLs are acceptable when the anchor is installed with the specified WS screws and per the instructions. HLLs require an engineered design approved by a qualified person; do not use the Hinge-2 in an HLL when it’s nailed.
    • Q: Is the Hinge-2 reusable, and when must it be removed from service?
A: Yes—it's a temporary, reusable anchor. Remove it from service after any fall event or if you see deformation, cracks, corrosion, elongated holes, or damaged fasteners. Perform a pre-use check each time and have a competent person do a documented annual inspection (more often in harsh conditions).
    • Q: What should I do when the job is finished to maintain weather integrity and safety?
A: Remove the anchor, fill all fastener holes, and restore underlayment/roofing per best practices. Verify there are no leaks after the next rain. Recalculate fall clearance whenever you relocate the anchor to a new position.
