Description
A compact, economical shingle-roof anchor that blends in and installs fast. The D-Minus uses a 7/8" connector hole instead of a D-ring and mounts with six fasteners into wood framing. Choose gray powder-coated 11-ga steel or 11-ga 430 stainless to match your environment. For retrofit installs over existing shingles, pair it with the RetroFlash flashing to cover the anchor and fasteners for a clean, weather-protected finish.
Features
-
Low-profile, shingle-roof design — specified for asphalt shingles; sits discreetly once installed.
-
Two material options — 11-ga zinc-plated, gray powder-coated steel or 11-ga 430 stainless steel.
-
Strength & capacity — 5,000-lb minimum breaking strength; single user up to 310 lb (with shock absorber).
-
Fast, simple install — six stainless spiral-shank nails (or #12 screws) into wood structure; 2" × 9-1/4" plate with 7/8" connector hole.
-
Retrofit-friendly — can mount over existing shingles; optional RetroFlash (20-ga metal flashing) slips under the course above the anchor to cover fasteners and shield from weather.
-
Use limits for safety — not rated for SRLs, horizontal lifelines, multiple users, window-washing, side-loading, or reverse-loading.
-
Compliance — OSHA 1926.502 / 1910.66; ANSI Z359.1-07 & A10.32-2012 (latest SAS manual lists ANSI Z359.18-17 Type D)

FAQs
- Q: How should I orient the D-Minus during installation?
A: Point the connector hole down-slope and use it only in the direction of the roof slope. Keep your work within the anchor’s working radius (direction of slope or up to 30° either side); do not side-load or back-load the anchor.
-
Q: How many users can connect to this anchor at once?
A: One user at a time. Do not attach multiple workers or devices simultaneously.
-
Q: Can I keep the anchor during re-roofing, and how do I maintain waterproofing?
A: Yes—if the anchor is undamaged and within service limits. Lift the courses as needed, reseal with compatible flashing/sealant (e.g., a retrofit flashing sleeve), and verify there are no leaks after reassembly.
-
Q: What happens after the anchor arrests a fall?
A: Remove it from service immediately and replace it. Any anchor that has seen fall-arrest loads must not be reused.
