Overview

Lucas 6000 Universal Roof Coating is a solvent-based Terpolymer coating intended for the repair and restoration of asphalt, modified bitumen, metal, concrete, TPO, PVC, KEE (Fibertite), Hypalon (CSPE), PIB and EPDM roofs. Ultra-low moisture permeability provides improved ponding water resistance. Extremely fast drying with almost no over-spray. Non-flammable and low VOC Won’t freeze, wash off or pick up debris. Lucas 6000 is available in Energy Star white and custom colors. When installed in white, TPS6000 will reduce the roof’s surface temperature which limits stress from daily heat cycles. It will also reduce the heat gain in the building’s interior, any associated air conditioning costs and increase the efficiency of roof mounted air conditioning condensers.

Total Roof Restoration

  Before

Deteriorated surface conditions, open seams, leaking fasteners and other penetrations cause recurring leaks and associated repair expenses.  Black roofs get hot causing daily stress cycles and increasing interior building temperatures and associated cooling costs.

  Seam Sealing

After cleaning the roof surface with our proprietary Lucas 115 Detergent Primer, all seams, fasteners and penetrations are sealed with Lucas 5500 Seam Sealer, seaming tape, reinforcing fabric or Lucas 6500 Universal Flashing Cement. Design defects are corrected and weak areas reinforced.  At this point, your roof is already watertight.

  Total Restoration

Lucas TPS6000 is a Total Restoration System.  The entire roof is sealed and re-surfaced with two applications of Lucas 6000 Universal Thermoplastic Coating at a fraction of the cost of complete replacement.

For ALL Roof Types

TPS6000 Universal Roof Coating for ALL Roof Types

  Metal:

Seams and fasteners are sealed with Lucas 5500 Seam Sealer prior to coating.  Unlike permeable water-based coatings, 6000 is a two-coat process with no rust primer required.  Will not discolor over asphalt/aluminum coatings like some other solvent systems.

  Asphalt/Modified:

Asphalt and smooth-surfaced modified bitumen roofs age from the top down.  Surface cracking gets worse over time and will cause leaks if not addressed.  6000 fills in cracks and provides a new, smoother waterproof roof surface superior to the installed system when it was new. Not just a UV shield like asphalt based aluminum coatings.
  EPDM:

Most EPDM roof leaks are at seams and penetrations. Seams are taped or reinforced with fabric and the black roof is coated white to reduce stress on seams and improve energy efficiency due to daily heat cycles

  Granular Surfaced Modified:

Granule loss robs the roof of UV protection causing rapid deterioration.

Protect, seal and improve appearance with 6000. Custom colors  available.

  TPO:

TPO and other white single ply systems can be resurfaced with the

6000 system to end recurring seam leaks from poorly executed seam welds. TPO roofs age from the top down. Replace the roof surface at the first sign of cracks before the roof requires complete tear-off and replacement.

Application

Surface to be coated must be dry and free of dirt or corrosion particles. #6000 may be applied to wet surfaces as a temporary repair measure. Its ultra high density and water displacing abilities allow adhesion to wet and underwater surfaces. In conventional applications, first apply Lucas #115 Detergent Primer and power-wash according to directions. Before applying coating, close all fresh air intakes and other potential points of entry for solvent vapors into the building. All penetrations should be sealed with #6500 Universal Flashing Cement. On metal roofs any grade of #5500 Seam sealer may be utilized. For best results, apply the product with a 3/4 to 1 1/4 inch nap roller or suitable spray equipment. Apply successive coats at right angles when possible. Mix the coating thoroughly before application. For best results, maintain coating temperature at 50° F or higher. Roof Tempera- ture should be above freezing during application. Once applied, coating is unaffected by temperature.

Allow 24 hours between coats on asphalt, modified bitumen and EPDM roofs. For all other roof types, allow four hours between primer and/or base coats and the finish coat. All roofs must be cleaned with #115 prior to appli- cation of this product. Failure to do so may result in poor adhesion and/or discoloration of the coating.

BUR/ModBit (varies): 2.5 to 3 gallons per sq. applied in 2 coats 1.25 to 1.5 gal/sq each*

TPO/EPDM/CSPE: 2.5 gallons per square applied in 2 coats 1.25 gal/sq each**

Metal (varies): 2.5 to 3 gallons per square applied in 2 coats 1.25 to 1.5 gal/sq ea.

Concrete: Prime with #5015 1/2 gal/sq 2.5 gallons per square / 2 Coats 1.25 gal/sq each

PVC: Prime with #1015 1/2 gal/sq (required for PVCs with plasticizer) 2.5 gallons per square applied in 2 coats at 1.25 gal/sq each

For fabric reinforced applications or other roof systems, consult the manu- facturer. Typical rate of application with reinforcement is 5 gallons per 100 sq. ft.

*The first coat over asphalt will often stain yellow. Although #6000 is highly resistant to asphalt staining, this condition is unpredictable. If brown spots appear during applica- tion with a roller, inspect the roller nap for embedded pieces of asphalt. These spots will be covered by the second coat. Uneven, alligatored or cracked roofs will require the higher rate of application.

**EPDM roofs may exhibit temporary swelling if application rates are significantly exceeded. If swelling occurs do not proceed with additional coats until it has subsided.

If unsure of the type of roof system to be coated, consult the manufacturer to obtain positive identification.

Caution

Combustible mixture, keep away from heat and open flames. Avoid prolonged contact with skin or fumes. If irritation occurs seek medical attention. Keep out of reach of children. Read MSDS prior to use.
