Description

The S-5! SnoPost is a stainless steel accessory used in the SnoFence snow retention system. When threaded into the matching S-5 clamp (typically ASF for aluminum/stainless or BSF for brass systems), it provides attachment for a second rod (SnoRod) positioned approximately 2 inches above the first rod. This two-rail design improves snow retention performance under heavier service loads. The SnoPost helps prevent snow sliding by increasing resistance, especially when long rods span between clamps. It also helps reduce lateral rod migration when used in conjunction with end or fixed-position clamps.

Key Features:

• Stainless steel post that threads into S-5 clamps to support a second SnoRod about 2″ above the first rod
• Enables two-rail (“SnoFence”) configuration for enhanced snow retention on standing seam roofs
• Works in both brass and stainless/aluminum systems depending on clamp type
• Helps prevent lateral rod movement when used with end/fixed clamps or one SnoPost E at intervals
• Durable material for long service life and compatibility with snow fence rod systems

Specifications

• Material: Stainless steel post (type as supplied for stainless/aluminum systems)

• Vertical separation: Approximately 2″ above the first SnoRod when installed

• Includes: One SnoPost stainless; designed to thread into ASF clamp (or BSF clamp if brass equivalent system)

• Use rate: One SnoPost per 50′ of SnoFence assembly, plus at ends/fixed positions to fix (lock) the rod in place

• Compatible rod: ⅜″ SnoRod used in the SnoFence system

How To

  • Assemble the base SnoFence setup: select S-5 clamps (ASF or BSF) spaced per load & roof profile.
  • After installing the first SnoRod through the clamps, thread the SnoPost into the clamp’s top threaded hole.
  • Insert the second SnoRod through the hole in the SnoPost at the 2″ elevated position.
  • At end or fixed positions (or at intervals), use a SnoPost E or end clamp to lock the upper rod and prevent rod migration.
  • Tighten the SnoPost into the clamp, ensuring secure fit; tighten any set screws or locking devices.
  • Periodically inspect after snow/thermal load cycles to ensure rods and posts remain aligned and secure.

FAQs

Q: What is the purpose of the SnoPost in SnoFence systems?
A: It provides a second rod about 2″ above the first rod to form a two-rail snow fence, increasing snow retention strength.

Q: Which clamps are used with SnoPost?
A: Typically stainless versions thread into S-5-ASF clamps for non-copper systems; brass versions thread into BSF or BE clamps in brass/copper systems.

Q: How many SnoPosts are needed and where are they located?
A: One per 50′ of assembly, and at ends or fixed positions to prevent lateral movement of the rods.

Q: Is the SnoPost made of the same material as the rod?
A: The SnoPost is stainless steel (in the stainless/ASF system) or brass in brass systems; the rod matched accordingly (e.g. stainless rod with stainless post).
