Description
The S-5! Brass SnoPost-Brass is a solid brass post designed as part of the SnoFence snow retention system for copper standing seam or batten seam roofs. It threads into the top of an S-5-BSF or S-5-BE clamp to support a second brass rod (SnoRod) positioned approximately 2″ above the lower rod, forming a two-rail snow fence configuration. The top of the post includes a set screw (for the BE version) that locks the upper rod in place to prevent lateral migration. Its brass construction ensures compatibility with copper roofing, providing resistance to galvanic corrosion and preserving appearance over time.
Key Features:
• Solid brass post designed for use with S-5-BSF or S-5-BE clamps in the SnoFence system
• Enables installation of second brass or copper SnoRod 2″ above the first rod
• BE version includes a set screw in the top to lock the upper rod and reduce movement
• Compatible with copper roofing systems to avoid dissimilar metal corrosion
• Simple mechanical installation; supports higher-service-load snow retention when paired with proper clamp spacing
Specifications
• Type: SnoPost-Brass (SnoPost B or BE depending on clamp used)
• Material: Solid brass construction
• Rod hole size: Designed to accept 3/8″ diameter brass or copper rod (SnoRod)
• Posts used above existing rod: 2″ vertical separation between first and second rod when installed in post
• Includes: One Brass SnoPost-Brass; set screw included in BE version
• Compatibility: Works with S-5-BSF clamp (intermediate) and S-5-BE clamp (end or fixed position) on copper seam systems
How To
- Select the clamp (S-5-BSF for intermediate or S-5-BE for end/fix-position) to which the Brass SnoPost-Brass will be threaded.
-
Thread the Brass SnoPost-Brass into the clamp’s top threaded hole securely.
-
Insert the 3/8″ brass or copper SnoRod into the hole in the top of the Brass SnoPost so it sits approximately 2″ above the lower rod.
-
If using the BE version, tighten the integrated set screw at the top of the post to lock the upper rod and reduce lateral movement.
-
Ensure proper alignment of rod sections and clamps; add couplings as needed for long runs.
-
Inspect periodically (after snow loads or thermal cycles) and re-tighten set screw and clamps as needed to maintain performance.
FAQs
Q: What is the purpose of the Brass SnoPost-Brass?
