Description
The S-5! BSF Clamp is a solid brass clamp engineered for SnoRail and SnoFence snow retention systems on copper standing seam roofs. It serves as the intermediate mount, securing brass rods or rails without penetrating the roof panel, preserving both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. Made from brass to match copper roofing and resist galvanic corrosion, the BSF also includes a threaded hole for Brass SnoPost when converting to a full SnoFence assembly. Lightweight yet strong, it is optimally placed between end clamps (BSF) or at ends (using S-5-BE) per system design.
Key Features:
• Solid brass body designed for traditional copper double-folded or batten seam profiles with seam thickness up to 0.25″
• Intermediate clamp for SnoRail/SnoFence assemblies; threaded top for SnoPost for optional fence conversion
• Non-penetrating design using stainless steel set screws to protect panel finish and maintain warranty
• Fits corresponding copper seam dimensions including double-fold and batten seam profiles where required seam width or modifications apply
• Includes stainless steel set screws; durable brass finish complements copper roofing

How To
- Determine location(s) for intermediate support in the SnoRail/SnoFence run on copper standing seam.
-
Place BSF clamp over the seam, aligning the clamp body for correct fit.
-
Insert stainless set screws and hand-tighten to seat clamp body against seam.
-
Use a calibrated torque tool to tighten set screws per manufacturer spec.
-
If converting to SnoFence, thread Brass SnoPost into the top hole of BSF then attach brass rod(s).
-
Periodically inspect clamp hardware and re-check torque especially after initial exposure to weather and snow loads.
FAQs
Q: What roof seam types are compatible with BSF clamp?
A: Double-folded copper standing seams with seam thickness ≤ 0.25″, batten seams ≥ 0.50″, or single-fold copper with seam ≥ 0.65″ in compatible installations.
Q: Is this clamp used at ends or continuously in the run?
A: It is used as an intermediate clamp. For end-of-run conditions or every 40′ of continuous rod/rail, the S-5-BE End Clamp is used.
Q: Can I convert a BSF clamp to a SnoFence bracket?
A: Yes. BSF has a threaded hole on top to accept Brass SnoPost for converting to a full SnoFence configuration.
Q: Does the BSF clamp pierce the roof panel?
A: No. It is non-penetrating; the clamp uses stainless steel round-point set screws to grip the seam without damaging roofing material.
