Description
RACE Soft Backer Rod is an open cell polyurethane foam rod designed to control sealant depth in expansion joints, cracks, and construction gaps. It is commonly installed before applying silicone, polyurethane, and other elastomeric sealants to improve joint performance and reduce unnecessary sealant use.
The open cell structure allows airflow behind the sealant, which can assist with curing in certain applications. Its highly compressible design makes it well suited for irregular joints and situations where a softer backing material is preferred.
RACE Soft Backer Rod is sold by the foot and available in multiple diameters to accommodate a wide range of joint sizes.
