Description
RACE Closed Cell Backer Rod is a non-absorbent polyethylene foam rod used to control sealant depth and provide a bond breaker in expansion joints, cracks, and construction gaps. It is commonly installed prior to applying silicone, polyurethane, and other cold-applied sealants to help improve joint performance and reduce unnecessary sealant use.
Closed cell backer rod resists moisture absorption and remains flexible, making it suitable for exterior and interior applications where water exposure is possible. It helps prevent three-sided adhesion, allowing the sealant to properly elongate and compress during normal building movement.
Available in multiple diameters, RACE Closed Cell Backer Rod is offered in both roll and 6 ft stick formats depending on size. Larger diameters are supplied in 6 ft lengths.
