OMG Roofing Products: What’s New With OlyGlu®

The OMG Roofing Products OlyGlu® line is due to expand with the introduction of the new OlyGlu TPO/EPDM Bucket-Based Membrane Adhesive, set to release next year.

Big Rock Supply recently had an exclusive opportunity to preview this new product when Eric Frazier, Senior Product Manager of Adhesives at OMG Roofing Products, visited our team to provide a live product demonstration. During the session, Eric explained the development behind the new adhesive, demonstrated its application, and highlighted how it differs from traditional bucket-applied bonding adhesives commonly used in commercial roofing.

For years, contractors have relied on conventional solvent-based bucket adhesives, often referred to throughout the industry as the "yellow goop." While these products have long been the standard for bonding TPO and EPDM membranes, they have presented application challenges. Their lower viscosity and overall consistency often cause the adhesive to clump or puddle instead of rolling out smoothly, making it more difficult to achieve consistent coverage. As solvents flash off during installation, uneven application can contribute to bubbling beneath the membrane, resulting in additional labor, wasted material, and unnecessary rework.

Recognizing these challenges, OMG Roofing Products has set out to develop a bucket-based adhesive that maintains the familiar installation methods while improving the overall application experience. Building on the success of the OlyGlu product family, including the OlyGlu PaceCart™ system and sprayable cartridge adhesives, the company is planning to expand the line in 2027 with a bucket-based solution designed for contractors and jobs that prefer or require more traditional roller application.

The new OlyGlu TPO/EPDM Bucket-Based Membrane Adhesive hopes to achieve a higher viscosity that allows for easier rolling, helping installers achieve consistent coverage with less effort. Rather than working to push adhesive across the substrate to create an even application, contractors should be able to roll it onto the surface with ease, creating a more uniform application.

During the demonstration, Eric compared the preliminary OlyGlu bucket-based adhesive side by side with a conventional bucket-based adhesive. The difference in application was immediately noticeable. The OlyGlu adhesive rolled across the substrate with minimal effort, while the traditional adhesive required significantly more force and time to spread evenly. The comparison provided a practical look at how formulation alone can impact installation efficiency without requiring contractors to change the techniques they already use.

For roofing contractors, this demonstration offers an early look at the latest addition to the OlyGlu lineup. By combining a familiar application method with a new adhesive formulation, OMG Roofing Products continues to develop and innovate solutions that help improve productivity while supporting the evolving needs of the commercial roofing industry.

Thank you to OMG Roofing Products and Eric Frazier for allowing our team an early look at the next innovation in the OlyGly line-up. Stay connected with Big Rock Supply, we hope to share more with you as this product makes its way to market.
