• Ensure the heat gun is unplugged and completely cooled before beginning any work. 
• Remove the screws securing the heater tube or housing of the gun (typically 4 screws) and carefully slide off the mica tube and gasket around the element socket.
• Gently extract the old heating element from its socket by rocking if required; then align the prongs of the new 110 V / 1600 W element (equivalent to Leister 142.718) and firmly press it into place. 
• Replace the mica tube and gasket, re-install the heater tube/housing and secure all screws correctly. Ensure no debris or misalignment remains. 
• Plug the heat gun in, allow it to reach operating temperature, check proper air flow and heat output, and perform a brief test weld on scrap material before full use.
