    Description

The Tramex MEX5 Moisture Encounter is a digital, dual-depth moisture and humidity meter designed for building inspection, moisture survey and restoration professionals. It features non-destructive measurement capabilities for moisture content in wood, drywall and a variety of building materials, and includes a built-in hygrometer and infrared surface thermometer. Optional plug-in pin-type probes and in-situ RH (relative humidity) probes expand its functionality for pin measurements, equilibrium RH testing and ambient environment monitoring.

    Key features:

    • Dual-depth non-destructive measurement: shallow to approximately ⅜″ (9 mm) and deep to approximately 1¼″ (30 mm) for surface and core moisture comparison.
    • Built-in hygrometer and infrared surface thermometer enabling ambient RH, temperature, dew point, humidity ratio (g/kg) and surface temperature readings.
    • Optional plug-in pin probes and in-situ RH probes for extended use such as wood flooring, drywall, WME testing and ASTM F2170–type relative humidity tests.
    • Bluetooth connectivity to the Tramex Meters App for moisture mapping, Geo-tagging, report generation and documentation.

    How To

    • Clean the surface of the material being tested and ensure the meter electrodes are free of debris.
    • Power on the MEX5, select the desired mode (non-destructive, pin probe, or RH probe) depending on the material and measurement type.
    • For non-destructive mode, press the meter firmly onto the surface and read the moisture value; for pin probe mode insert the pins properly and read the moisture content.
    • Use the built-in hygrometer or connect an in-situ RH probe to measure ambient or embedded humidity conditions and surface temperature as needed.
    • Connect the meter via Bluetooth to the Tramex Meters App, log or map your readings, Geo-tag locations and generate reports for documentation.

    FAQs

Q: What materials can the MEX5 test moisture in?
A: It can test moisture in wood, drywall and other building materials such as roofing, plaster, tile and masonry using non-destructive, pin probe and RH probe modes.

Q: How deep into a material does the MEX5 measure in non-destructive mode?
A: The MEX5 provides shallow-depth penetration up to approximately ⅜″ (9 mm) and deep-depth penetration up to approximately 1¼″ (30 mm).

Q: Does the MEX5 measure ambient humidity or only moisture in materials?
A: Yes, the MEX5 includes a built-in hygrometer that measures ambient relative humidity, temperature, dew point and humidity ratio, and supports optional RH probes for in-situ moisture measurement.

Q: What connectivity features does the MEX5 offer?
A: It offers Bluetooth connectivity to the Tramex Meters App, allowing moisture and humidity readings to be visualised, mapped, Geo-tagged and incorporated into reports.
