Description
The Tramex CMEX5 Concrete Moisture Encounter X5 is a digital multi-moisture meter designed for non-destructive measurement of moisture content in concrete floors and slabs. It delivers quantitative readings using gravimetric baselines and also offers carbide method equivalent and comparative scales for concrete and gypsum/anhydrite screeds. The meter has built-in ambient humidity, temperature, dew point and humidity ratio measurement capabilities, and supports plug-in relative humidity probes or wood pin probes for extended functionality. Bluetooth connection and the Tramex Meters app enable mapping, reporting and documentation of moisture data.
Key features:
-
Digital interface delivering quantitative moisture content readings for concrete, and equivalent scales for other materials
-
Built-in hygrometer mode measuring ambient relative humidity, temperature, dew point and humidity ratio
-
Plug-in ports for optional Hygro-i2 RH probes (for in-situ or hood testing) and heavy-duty wood pin probes for wood/wallboard measurement
-
Rugged ergonomic construction with front-lit display, Bluetooth connectivity to the Tramex Meters app, and optional extension handle for floor readings

How To
- Clean and prepare the concrete surface and ensure any optional probes are correctly connected and calibrated.
-
Turn the CMEX5 on and select the appropriate measurement mode (e.g., concrete MC, CM equivalent, gypsum reference or RH mode).
-
Press the instrument firmly onto the slab surface so the contact plate is fully compressed, then read the moisture or RH value displayed.
-
For extended measurement, connect optional RH probes or pin probes to measure ambient humidity, in-situ slab RH or wood moisture content.
-
Use Bluetooth to connect to the Tramex Meters app and record, map, geo-tag and share results as required.
FAQs
Q: Does the CMEX5 support in-situ slab relative humidity testing?
A: Yes, when used with a plug-in Hygro-i2 relative humidity probe the CMEX5 supports in-situ RH testing per ASTM F2170.
Q: Can the CMEX5 measure moisture in wood or other building materials?
A: Yes, when a heavy-duty pin-type wood probe is connected the CMEX5 operates in pin-probe mode and measures moisture content in wood from 5% to 30%.
Q: How deep into the concrete slab does the CMEX5 measure in non-destructive mode?
A: It measures to a depth of approximately ¾″ (20 mm) in the slab.
Q: What functionality does the Bluetooth connection offer for the CMEX5?
A: The Bluetooth connection allows the CMEX5 to link with the Tramex Meters app to create moisture maps, geo-tag results, generate reports and share data from mobile devices.
