In 1893, Boss Manufacturing Company came up with the idea of manufacturing work gloves by noticing the needs of farmers in the Kewanee area. In the early 1890’s, it was common practice for farmers’ wives to purchase cloth goods to make work mittens for their husbands to protect their hands. The Boss story from that point on continues to be one of growth and sustained success as a leader in the glove industry. To this day, the headquarters are still in Kewanee, with distribution centers and sales located throughout the United States and Canada.
