RACE Rail Skylight Safety Kit

The RACE Rail Skylight Safety Kit is a non-penetrating adjustable system that guards skylights while preserving access to surrounding roof areas. It installs in just minutes and accommodates skylights from 36″ × 36″ to 60″ × 60″. An optional extension pack allows coverage for skylights up to 48″ × 96″.

• Clear the roof area around the skylight of debris and ensure the skylight frame is level and in sound condition.
• Unpack all components and verify you have the 4 corner legs, 8 adjustable rails, 8 L-handles and 16 locking pins as listed in the kit contents.
• Assemble one corner post by orienting the bracket facing downward and attach the first adjustable rail using a safety pin through the male/female end.
• Continue attaching all adjustable side rails sequentially around the corner posts, leaving rail tightening L-bolts loose until final adjustment.
• Measure the top frame of the skylight and expand the assembled guardrail frame so it is slightly larger in footprint than the skylight dimensions (kit fits skylights 36″ × 36″ up to 60″ × 60″; extension pack allows up to 48″ × 96″).
• Lift the frame onto the skylight frame, position the corner posts tight against the skylight’s outer frame, and then tighten all L-bolts until snug and secure on each side.
• Perform a final inspection ensuring locking pins are fully installed, the system sits flush and stable on the roof surface, and no components are loose before beginning work around the skylight.

Q: Can the system be used when the roof pitch is more than 2:12?
A: The kit is intended for flat and low-slope roofs; if the pitch exceeds manufacturer guidelines you should consult the instructions or contact the manufacturer for suitability.

Q: How frequently must the Safety Kit be inspected before use?
A: Prior to each use conduct a visual check for loose parts, corrosion, deformation or missing pins; a formal inspection by a competent person must also be performed at least every six months.

Q: Does this system require permanent drilling or alteration of the roof surface?
A: No. The kit is non-penetrating and designed to guard skylights without compromising the roof membrane or structure.

Q: Is it possible to expand the kit to cover larger skylights?
A: Yes. An extension pack is available which allows the system to cover skylights up to 48″ × 96″.
