    FAQs

    • Q: Can I choke (girth-hitch) the strap, or should I use a straight wrap or basket wrap?
A: A choke (D-ring passed through the sewn loop) is the most common configuration and helps prevent migration. Do not clip a connector directly into the sewn loop. Basket wraps should only be used if permitted by your system design—do not assume increased capacity. Keep at least 3–4 in of tail beyond the choke.
    • Q: What about sharp edges, hot surfaces, or chemicals?
A: Keep the webbing off sharp or abrasive edges; use approved edge protection or a softener if contact is unavoidable. Do not use near weld spatter, open flame, or surfaces hotter than typical jobsite limits (about −30 °F to 120 °F). Keep away from solvents, paints, battery acid, and other chemicals that can degrade synthetic fibers.
    • Q: Is it compatible with SRLs and shock-absorbing lanyards, and how do I manage fall clearance?
A: Yes—connect one ANSI-compliant hook/carabiner to the D-ring. For fall arrest, calculate total clearance (anchor height ± worker D-ring height, lanyard deployment or SRL deceleration distance, harness stretch, and a safety margin). Position the strap as high as practical and in line with the expected load path to minimize swing-fall.
    • Q: How long does the strap last and how should I inspect and store it?
A: There’s no fixed calendar life—retire based on condition. Inspect before each use (cuts, glazing, abrasion, UV bleaching, chemical damage, loose/broken stitches, D-ring corrosion/deformation, illegible labels). Remove from service after any fall event. Clean with mild soap and water, air-dry out of direct heat, and store dry, away from sunlight and chemicals.
