• Clean the surface thoroughly: remove all dirt, dust, loose particles, oil or grease stains, rust scale, and previous coatings so the substrate is clean and dry. 
• Repair or fill any significant voids, cracks, or blow-holes in the substrate as needed; ensure the surface is sound and stable. 
• Apply the primer evenly by brush, roller or spray at the manufacturer’s recommended coverage rate, avoiding puddling or over-application; depending on product type, this might be 150-400 ft²/gal.
• Allow the primer to dry or become tack-free according to weather conditions (typically 30 minutes to 2 hours in moderate conditions) before applying the asphalt or membrane system. 
• Proceed with the asphalt coating, membrane, or seal coat application directly on the primed surface, following manufacturer’s instructions for that system. Do not allow heavy foot or vehicle traffic on primer until cured.
