    FAQ

    QUESTIONS ABOUT USE:

IT LOOKS LIKE IT HOOKS ON THE RIDGE VENT, WHAT IF THERE ISN'T ONE?

-There have been many situations where The RIDGEPRO was used without a ridge vent and we do hear from users that they do this. However, we don't endorse doing so. We recommend using The RIDGEPRO as an anchor or a tool to get positioned on the roof to use another anchor. It is hard to generalize all situations one may encounter in roofing when using The RIDGEPRO but we would say that it was not designed with a ridge vent in mind, just an angle at the roof peak.

HOW DO I MOUNT THE DEVICE INTO THE ROOF AS YOU SUGGEST?

-The RIDGEPRO™ has cross members in the front and back that straddle the peak of the roof. Each cross member has two pre-drilled holes that receive 5/16" x 1 1/2" lag bolts that attach The RIDGEPRO™ to the structure. When you are finished with the job, remove the bolts and fill the holes with a weatherproof roofing sealant, then lower The RIDGEPRO™ back down onto the peak and descend safely.

HOW MUCH OF THE ROOF CAN I ACCESS ONCE I HAVE INSTALLED THE RIDGEPRO?
-If The RIDGEPRO™ is securely anchored, you can access the entire roof surface. If The RIDGEPRO™ is not anchored, you must stay on the wheel side of the roof and can swing from the center of the extension pole up to 30 degrees from either side of center.

CAN I USE THE RIDGEPRO ON A NEW ROOF WITHOUT ASPHALT SHINGLES?

-It is not recommended that you use The RIDGEPRO™ on an unfinished roof.

CAN I USE THE RIDGEPRO ON A METAL ROOF?

-For standing seam metal roofing, no. The cross members are too wide and the arch does not always clear the metal ridge cap. On corrugated metal roofs, yes.

    QUESTIONS ABOUT PRODUCT:

WHAT IS THE RIDGE PRO MADE OF?
-The RIDGEPRO™ is constructed of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy (also known as aircraft-grade aluminum). There are two stainless steel pins. The first pin secures the extension pole into the device and the second pin locks in the number selection on the pitch grid. There are two sponge-rubber pads on the bottom cross members of The RIDGEPRO™ that prevent damage to the roof surface.

WHAT ARE THE ROOF PITCHES THAT THE RIDGEPRO WILL WORK ON?
-There are seven settings that start at a 6/12 pitch and go all the way up to a 12/12 pitch. It is recommended that if you use The RIDGEPRO™ on a 6/12, 7/12, or 8/12 pitch roof, you should permanently mount the device into the roof structure. While we still advise you to mount the device on a roof above an 8/12, your risk of the device pulling up over the peak is reduced.

HOW MUCH TESTING WENT INT THE RIDGEPRO BEFORE BRINGING IT TO THE MARKET?

-The RIDGEPRO™ was field-tested for two years before going to market. As it was being tested in the field, there were so many requests to buy the device that we realized the market was there and we went into production.

WILL ANY EXTENSION POLE WORK WITH THE RIDGEPRO?
-No. Every extension pole is fit to each RIDGEPRO™ before it is shipped. If you purchase a RIDGEPRO™ anchor separately from an extension pole, you will have to screw in your extension pole into The RIDGEPRO™ and then drill a hole through the pole so that the fit is secure.

    COMPLIANCE QUESTIONS:

IS THE RIDGEPRO COMPLIANT WITH OSHA?
When anchored, The RIDGEPRO™ is compliant with OSHA standard 1926 Subpart M for a single user, withstanding and exceeding 5,000 pounds of static strength force. When not anchored, OSHA does not regulate "non-anchors" so you would be working with The RIDGEPRO™ as an inspection tool, which grants 15 minutes of time on the roof before you must anchor.

AM I IN VIOLATION OF NOT HAVING A "3-POINT CONTACT" WHEN INSTALLING THE RIDGEPRO?

-Three-point contact is used for ascending or descending. When you are installing The RIDGEPRO™, you are neither ascending or descending, you are working on a "working platform" which allows a 2-point stance.

DO ALL ROOFING-RELATED INDUSTRIES FALL UNDER THE OSHA STANDARDS?

Unfortunately not. Construction and roofing companies are generally regulated by these federal standards. Professional inspectors, insurance adjusters, solar installers, telecom professionals, firemen and other service professionals do not have to abide by these federal standards in some cases. In an ideal world, everyone who gets on a roof would operate with a similar set of safety practices.
