Overview

Polymer based Lucas #5000 Metal Roof Coating is an elastomeric solvent based coating intended for the repair and restoration of metal roofs. Use on barns, warehouses, metal trailers and shipping containers. Ultra-low moisture permeability prevents corrosion while high elasticity allows conformation to building movement. Available in standard white and colors. Lucas #5000 is based on tough, elastic Styrene Ethylene/Butylene Styrene polymers and a clear adhesive hydrocarbon resin in an aromatic hydrocarbon vehicle. High reflectivity is maintained due to the incorporation of high quality titanium dioxide. Additionally, high loadings of anti-oxidants and light stabilizers ensure durability throughout roof service life.

APPLICATION

Surface to be coated must be dry and free of dirt or corrosion particles. All seams, fasteners and penetrations should be sealed with #5500 Seam Sealer. The roof must then be coated with Lucas #5100 Metal Roof Base Coating at a rate of 1 – 1 1/2 gallons per 100 square feet. MECHANICALLY MIX coating thoroughly and continuously before and during application. For best results, maintain coating temperature at 70° F or higher. When the Base Coating is cured, apply the Top Coating at a rate of 1 – 1 1/2 gallons per 100 square feet. For best results, apply coating in one direction with the slope of the roof. Roofing asphalts may cause staining. As this condition is unpredictable, we recommend that the user apply a small amount of #5000 to the area of the roof to be coated in order to test its performance. Use #5000 as it comes from the container, no thinning is necessary with this product. Clean up with mineral spirits and waterless hand cleaner.

Combustible mixture, keep away from heat and open flames. Avoid prolonged contact with skin or fumes. If irritation occurs seek medical attention. Do not use near heat or open flame. Keep out of reach of children. Read MSDS prior to use.
